Really depends on the race. Some are bumpy, sometimes you crash, these things happen and can really affect how you feel the day after. Typically, if I race more than once over the weekend I will take the Monday off, but if not I will hit it hard for like 30-40 minutes on Monday.

The first race of the year is a crapshoot for sure. There is absolutely no way you can be prepared for your first race of the season, as you can't practice cx racing. Being fully on the limit and having to make smart decisions and take choice lines 30 times a lap for 40 minutes straight takes some adjustment for sure.
