In the winter months, do you typically slow down with your cycling routines?

Or do you take advantage of the lack of bugs and heat and increase your rides?

Or do you try to just do a lot of indoor trainer cycling? If so, do you ride on the trainer as much as you would outside when it's nice?

After CX season i will take a few weeks off the bike and only ride if I WANT to. Then it's full base season time. This means long hours on the trainer (2+ hours a day) with goals of north of 13 hours a week. Doing some structured training but for the most part, ride bike for hours. You body doesn't know miles it only knows hours at load. Just do it!

Zwift and TrainerRoad for winter however I do significantly drop off riding November&December to avoid burnout. Basically maintenance fitness only.

The challenge around here is that many of us do the DSR. So you have to be somewhat fit at the beginning of March. So starting any later than December doesn't really allow for that.

I hate riding inside. Probably because I've never had a good trainer setup. But I do increase my hikes and tackle more hillier routes so I am getting a good workout.

I'll also be trail running more this winter, too.

I find that utilizing movies/tv shows helps me indoors. Also doing group rides on zwift help. Gabe said it was the only way he can ride indoors.

The older I get, the more I don't like the cold. So during the cold winter months ( Dec - Jan - Feb ) I ride when we get those brief warm spells. Otherwise, I hit the gym. Always good to do some strength training and cardio to keep the metabolism going. Keep strengthening the legs for the next cycling season.

"They" say there is no bad weather, only bad clothing. In my experience that is often, but not 100% true. ;)
