There is a Dollar General on every corner now days.
When I do my century rides on Tunnel Hill I like to stop at Wendy's in Harrisburg, for a chicken snack wrap.
I just went to a wax chain on my gravel bike. So far I like it. still have the traditional lube chain on my road bike and I think it is dirtier and nastier than my gravel bike. prob will go wax next time on the road bike also. Thanks for the tip on Cutter.
Tues nights cape has a gravel ride that starts at 29 spanish street in the public parking lot next to Ebb and Flow fermentations. 6:35pm take off, bring lights and liquids, usually try to make it back in time to grab a cold drink of your choosing and one of cape's best smash burgers in town. or...
I have joined Chain reaction cycling club in Paducah KY. It's not southern IL but just across the big Ohio crick. they have membership forms at Bike World. it is $20individ, or $30 family I think. we do group rides about every day of the week. Monday flat, tues social, wed ?, thur hills...
My first helmet Was a Giant, and I glued screen in all of the front holes to prevent bugs and bees from flying in it and it did not stop the air. My son decided that helmet looked better on him than me so he commandeered it. I then bought a Specialized Evolv. Instead of meshing it out in the...
Speed, speed, and speed. is that a skill? I am still a rookie at all things biking, so pretty much everything for me. With climbing at the top of the list.
I recently went for a ride knowing it would be 95% rain induced. I was on a rail train so there was no fear of traffic or visibility issues. It defiantly required more effort than a dry ride. But beyond the effort there are several other factors to overcome, such as visibility/vision, chaffing...
For me I like to mix up the rides. I do long solo rides, small group, large group, day and night rides. Another way i mix it up is some days i ride gravel others i do road, and on occasion i will through mountain biking in the mix and there is always the trainer. I still throw in a hike or...
Shimano SPD on road and gravel. 1 pair of Shimano shoes and a pair of Bontrager with Boa dials. the Shimano shoes have softer soles for the hike-a-bike routes.
I like them all. enjoy a little solo time as well as jumping in a pace line or party pace with good convo. i think mood, goals, timing all play into the decision.
There is a ride across MO on the Katy Trail that is called BAM. It is a multi day ride on a former rail trail so there is minimal elevation gain. Lots of fun had each day.
I think it’s bringing attention to the issues with the trail has been very beneficial. I hope the powers to be see and continue to see the love and concern for the trail. I know their staffing has been strapped but some simple things like back dragging their tracks when pushing trees off the...
I ride all Giant brand bikes, they are superior so you don’t have to change anything about them. Haha
I have however add a few accessories. My carbon Defy now has a nice set of aero bars and a cloud9 seat.
For my carbon Revolt I have added front and rear racks for adventure bike packing along...
I prefer fasting for morning rides. But afternoon rides I use GU gels as for drink mix I typically use bcaa drink mix. The amino mixes usually have enough electrolytes in them.
I really prefer to not have a set goal I like to be able to ride as much as I want lol. But with it getting warmer I hope to keep my weekly average mileage 100+ per week but really need to split up my activities to include more paddling and hiking. We’ll see how that works out.
