Any plans for New Year's Eve and Day this year/next?
We usually hike both days as a tradition, but some Eve's I work and can't really get a hike in.
How about you all?
Why is there no east side race?
Has anyone ever considered trying to organize one?
I think allowing a specific amount at first and then increasing participation allowance might be ideal!
I bet even the local Friends and Tourism groups would help fund/promotion it.
If we pondered this idea...
As we all know, Highway 13 is practically getting a paved bike trail all the way through except maybe past Marion or Murphysboro.
But it looks like it could be a nice road biking experience once it's finished.
Will any of you use it for that or will you stick to riding on 13?
I'd rather take my bike to the shop than deal with it even just to refill the tubeless stuff LOL
Last time I tried to fix a broken spoke, I did about $700 worth of fixing. So, I'll let the experts do that.
I do have a goal to buy a cheap used bike and learn how to fix and replace everything on...
Earning or getting them from areas you visit is cool!
When I went to the Smokies for our honeymoon, a store was selling Pactimo jerseys with the local cycling theme on it. In fact, it was a whole kit which I bought!
I'll leave the URL.
I still want to keep the main emphasis on Southern Illinois Cycling but just make a broader section to talking cycling in general no matter where a member is located.
I do little promotion for this forum, to be honest. I need to promote it more.
Hey folks,
I'm considering a structure re-organization.
Basically, I'll change Southern Illinois Cycling to just Cycling Discussions or something like that. We can talk cycling in it no matter where the cycling is at. Topics won't have to be completely centered on cycling in Southern Illinois...
Nice.
We go my in-laws, but they live next door. We have a breakfast after opening presents at our house (me, wife, kids). Then we might go to my mom and stepdads in Herrin for dinner.
I want some better sunglasses and a good balaclava that actually fits and is warm. Any suggestions on both?
I could probably use a new kit because you can never have enough kits, right?
Got me a real MTB helmet, need to go see Gabe and get it one of these days.
It's dark shortly after I get home. I could probably do a quick hour ride at Glendale if I wanted to. I can definitely get in a 5K trail run but not while all this white crap is on the ground.
A buddy of mine has been drinking cold brew. He says it feels better on your stomach.
I haven't tried it yet. You can even warm it up and still get the same effects.
I tried to do the full last year, but the wind was really killing me.
So, my goal is to do the half enough where I stay on the bike and then go for the full.
