I have a pair of cycling shorts that I bought 13 years ago from Aero Tech Designs. They're still in great shape, too! Back then, I paid around $20 for the shorts. ADT wasn't as known as it is today, either. But I liked that the shorts were made in America and they're super comfortable though I primarily stick to bibs now.

But that leads me to the point of this topic.

I can buy a pair of bibs and a jersey that is durable and comfortable for under $100. You'll likely not know the brand because it isn't popular,

However, I can buy the same type of bib shorts and jersey from a well-known brand for around $400 altogether, sometimes even more than that.

What are we paying for? The brand? Do you need other riders to see that brand name on our kits? Is it more about fitting in than function? Do you think this is a problem in cycling that might be preventing others from participating?
