Hey everyone,

my name is joe, been around this area for quite sometime, i have cycled on and off for many years. not sure why but i have always been drawn to giant bikes, my first bike to get me in to cycling was a giant escape that i had many miles on but life happens, had to sell the bike off and last year i was able to pick up a new to me yet again another giant but a giant contend ar3. this bike has been just amazing and i have been slowly trying to get back into the groove of things.

im a husband and a dad to an amazing 3 year old and fitting in time has been hard but i found this forum looking for southern illinois videos, strubbling upon shawn's videos bringing me here, im a huge nerd for computers, gaming, and im a huge fan of the whole track bike or fixie world and their awesome style, but never in my life would i think i could ride a fixie haha! huge god & famous follower and that is why i have just love that world.

im not very fast but i am trying so hard to learn to ride more and ride harder and faster, but i want to possibly find more people to ride with as i feel as if riding someone might take my mind off of the pain i push my self through haha!

Welcome dude. If you're interested in getting used to riding with other folks, The Bike Surgeon of Southern Illinois in Carterville does a road group ride on Saturday mornings (8am for the faster 17-20 mph (2 hours), 9am for 10-15mph (1 hour)).

Rom,

thank you for the advice, i dont use much social media and i know i miss a lot, but was curious could you tell me if they do this every single saturday? does it just depend on the weather for that day?

thanks,

Typically, it's determined by the weather. The bike shops number is (618) 457-4521 and you could always call the day before :)

Definitely what Shawn said. It's nearly every saturday, we even did it last saturday in the rain. Both groups. The slowest group is a little touch and go, but for the most part, if the big ride is happening, the slower ride is happening.

And on Wednesdays, they mountain bike at Touch of Nature (unless they've had rain) and that's fun, too. I need to make it back to one of them!

Also wednesday night road rides at the Carbondale Airport. Typically a lumpy route around 17 mph avg
