As we all know, Highway 13 is practically getting a paved bike trail all the way through except maybe past Marion or Murphysboro.

But it looks like it could be a nice road biking experience once it's finished.

Will any of you use it for that or will you stick to riding on 13?

I will be using it to commute to work from Herrin to Carbondale when it finishes up. Just waiting on the part over Crab Orchard.

I've been riding the new saluki greenway section from airport road to carbondale a lot. I was riding the shoulder a lot last spring and sometimes going up to murphysboro but now for half of that I can ride a bit separated from traffic, even if there is a bit more elevation climb in a few spots. It makes a pretty nice loop now with the mud line trail. I can't wait for the bridge at crab orchard to connect to the existing trails on each side. Last time I was over there it looked dicey with a single lane open so I've been avoiding that spot and go south on spillway or north on farm roads when i want to head further east.

I don't blame you!

I live in Metropolis now. I used to live in Hurst. They'd get this trail made when I moved away from it of course lol
