What are your favorite early morning cycling routes in Southern Illinois?

Why do you like these routes? Are they less traveled by cars? Scenic? A mix?

Gravel and chip & seal roads up here in Franklin and Jefferson counties are pretty clear pretty much all of the time.

How early do you usually get out on them?

How early do you usually get out on them?

In summer, I usually start riding around 7:00 before it gets too hot. This time of the year I usually don’t ride until about noon on the days it’s warm enough to ride.

Being retired gives me a lot of flexibility on timing.
